The stress of holiday travel -- rushing to get somewhere on time, tight quarters (either in a car or plane), traffic, bad weather delays, and road rage -- only reinforces how crucial safety has car, chances are they won’t bother each other as much, and the cries from the backseat won’t get out of hand, says Kelley. Pack books on tape, their favorite music, stickers, whatever they like. If all else fails, tell them family stories about the day they were born, or when you and your husband met or start using a funny accent.
